About Ilias Kousis

I’m Ilias Kousis, a passionate Forrest Yoga Guardian (Level 5), Energy Medicine practitioner, and certified Breathwork coach based in Oslo, Norway. My journey into healing and teaching is deeply rooted in both science and spirit — I transitioned from a career in geology and climate science (MSc) to fully dedicate myself to guiding others on a path of transformation. I am also an Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine, where I write about personal development, healing, and embodied leadership.

From Scientist to Healer

With my academic background in geoscience, I spent years understanding the physical world — the earth, its systems, and its rhythms. But I also carried an inner calling: to help people heal, grow, and reconnect with their true selves. About 90% of the way through a PhD, I made a life-changing decision to leave academia and devote myself to yoga, energy medicine, and breathwork.

My Path in Yoga & Healing

I’ve trained in a range of yoga traditions — Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin — but it’s Forrest Yoga that captured my heart. I was honored to be selected as a Level 5 Guardian by Ana Forrest and Jose Calarco, which deeply shaped my teaching philosophy. I also serve as a Content Manager for Ana and Jose, contributing to the evolution of the Forrest Yoga lineage so that its powerful, healing practices stay relevant and accessible today.

Alongside yoga, I studied Energy Medicine at the Light Body School (Four Winds Society) and became a certified Breath Coach through YogaBody & Dan Brulé. These modalities enrich my work and allow me to support people on energetic, emotional, and physical levels.

How I Teach

My teaching style is informed by my scientific discipline and my intuitive, energetic sensibility. I have a deep understanding of physical and energetic anatomy, which helps me design healing yoga sequences that support both release and revitalization.

I’m also skilled at reading and working with energy: I offer hands-on assists that are gentle but powerful, and I bring presence, mindfulness, and precision into every interaction. Over time, my intuitive abilities have grown, enabling me to profoundly support clients — whether in private mentorship, group classes, or healing sessions.

My Mission

My mission is to help people reconnect with their Spirit, move out of autopilot, and live from a place of purpose rather than fear. A central part of that mission is guiding people to heal their pain, dissolve emotional blockages, and harvest more of their innate potential — so they can step into life with greater clarity, courage, and vitality.

I offer a variety of ways to work together: weekly in-person classes at Studio Ma, 1-on-1 coaching, retreats, workshops, and teacher trainings.

Whether through Forrest Yoga, breathwork, or energy medicine, I aim to help you open new doors of possibility, heal old patterns, and step more fully into who you are.
